Actually somehow her fur has started changing again this week!!
Rabbit fur is "IN" again for 2010 winter fashion and my heart is sinking.
Yes, I do have a fur coat trim. It came with my Jill Stewart coat I bought in 2005. I was not yet become aware of animal welfare then.
I also have two hair accesaries made of rabbit fur.
I've never used them again after 2007.
I keep them though, to remind myself, that the numbers of rabbits are killed for these items of mine.
It's just not necessary for us to have "real" fur, is it?
Can we still happily buy the real-fur items after seriously thinking about how the factories would have stripped the fur from rabbits or fox or chinchillas??
Let's go for the fake fur!
Yes, you may distinguish the difference of real and fake by appearance, but so what!?
There are more varieties for fake fur-items and they are surely higher in cost-performance.
Hi "MommyBan" :) Happy to see you're still updating Ken-Ken's blog, it's so cute :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see and especially catch her again, haha!
About your post, hm.. it's good to think about that. What about leather shoes, belts or gloves? Many leather products are so common that it's pretty hard to imagine living without them. Also, does it make a difference what kind of animal it is?
Anyway, at least for fashion choices, we can choose to avoid fur/leather :)
Hi aditsu, what a surprise:) Yes, I enjoy keeping this blog. Yes, I thought of the leather goods when I was writing it. So far I buy leather shoes and bags and belts and wallets rather than artificial ones, because they are more durable and functional. I use them for long long time fixing heels and toes, buts here and there. To be honet,I still havent come up with a clear-cut conclusion myself.Bt what I feel is fur goods are not essential.(well strictly speaking, then maybe all leather goods too) It's even more purely accesaries, like trims. What I am hoping with leather goods though are that these animals are not skinned just for the skin, but their meat consumed as well, on my plates, and on your plates.I do not want any lives to be ended just for skin.
