11th December 2007, Kenshiro had her neautering operation When we picked her up at the clinic at night, she looked such a sad-looking poor creature with her tearing eyes because of the whole shocking experience.
That night she did not resume eating for the whole night.
Though we had expected this since we've read lots of reference beforehand,
we were terribly worried about her.
Dr. gave us
OXBOW Critical Care for the assist-feeding. This is the description.
[Critical Care is a premium recovery food which can be given to herbivores that are unwilling to eat their normal diet due to illness, surgery or poor nutritional status. This specially formulated product contains all the essential nutrients of a complete diet as well as high-fiber timothy hay to ensure proper gut physiology and digestion. Available in Anise and Apple-Banana Flavors. Sizes: 36g (NEW!!!), 141g, 454g (anise), 141g, 454g (apple-banana). ]It is introduced in many books for Rabbit's First Aid, but only purchaased from the licenced vets.
Luckily she resumed eating the next day, so we didn't have to feed her this way more than once.
But knowing about this product really comforted us.
Today, I knew from one of the Japanese rabbits' lover's blog that it's not exported to Japan,
because of the name of the product not passing the regulation. That's such pity!
I read about so many rabbit families asking for sotution for the force-feed, yet they do not know about this product because they've never seen it.
I really hope we, Japanese rabbit lovers could do soemthing about this.
In Addition, I hope this product can be purchased in the normal retail shops, too in case of the emergency, or if we don't live near the 24-h emergency animal medical centre.
This product may be able to save a lot of sick rabbits, enableing them to be nutritously fed and to resume eating.
